The desire to create <\/span>machines that behave like humans<\/b> have been present in humankind\u2019s history since very ancient times.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, modern artificial intelligence appeared during <\/span>World War II<\/b> by the hands of Alan Turing. This expert mathematician managed to <\/span>decipher the operation of Nazi Germany\u2019s Enigma encryption device<\/b> by creating the Bombe machine.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1950, Turing published an article titled <\/span>Computational Machinery and Intelligence<\/i><\/b>. In this article, he laid the foundations of artificial intelligence and posed an experiment known today as the <\/span>Turing Test<\/b>, which determines whether a machine is to be considered intelligent or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

To carry it out, a human being is to have a conversation with a machine in a room. If the person having the conversation is unable to distinguish <\/span>whether he\/she is talking to a human or a machine<\/b>, then such a machine is considered to be intelligent.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the truth is that Artificial Intelligence is a ubiquitous technology that <\/span>will revolutionise our day-to-day life in a few years to come<\/b>, being present in customer care, self-driving vehicles, assistant robots, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Machine Learning?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Artificial Intelligence may try to imitate human reasoning but Machine Learning, in turn, goes still a bit further. It\u2019s the branch of artificial intelligence that <\/span>enables machines to learn by themselves<\/b>, meaning they eventually can avoid having to resort to external orders.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cmachine\u201d, so to speak, is actually <\/span>an algorithm that analyses a big volume of data<\/b> \u2014 which would be unattainable for a human being \u2014 in order to identify patterns. I.e. Machine Learning implies that a machine is <\/span>trained to automate tasks that are impossible to encompass for a human being<\/b> and that it\u2019s able to make predictions as a result of its learning.<\/span><\/p>\n
