Furthermore, it\u2019s important to keep in mind that the applications that are included in this article are only available for Android and iOS.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Popular methods for mobile payments<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most commonly used technologies to pay with a smartphone are Near Field Communication (NFC) and QR codes. Both\u00a0are explained as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Near Field Communication (NFC)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFC is a communication system, based on <\/span><b>short-range communication<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s an open platform for mobile phones and devices that have expanded the possibilities of <\/span><b>contactless technology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is interesting to note that contactless means \u201cno contact\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With NFC it is possible to <\/span><b>exchange data at a short distance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4 cm) in wireless mode, and in a few seconds, the transition ends. This system is similar to Bluetooth and allows the user&#8217;s mobile phone and credit card reader to communicate with each other. In order for this to work, both devices must be equipped with an <\/span><b>NFC chip<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Nevertheless, by simply downloading a special app it is possible to make mobile payments. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QR codes\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The QR system is short for <\/span><b>\u201cQuick Response\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is mainly used by banks. The code can be <\/span><b>read in several directions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as opposed to the traditional barcode reading, which is only horizontal. This Google technology, launched in 2011, was too revolutionary for that time. Once the app has been downloaded and activated, it&#8217;s possible to connect your phone number with\u00a0your IBAN account number. If you want to transfer money to another account, the other person doesn&#8217;t have to download the app to receive it. Thanks to this advantage, Jiffy has the potential to reach 34 countries and more than 400 million current account holders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nowadays, splitting a bill after having dinner with your friends, making online purchases or buying Christmas gifts is easier than ever with the use of mobile payment applications. It\u2019s quick, easy and secure.
